Here are the latest college football rankings with the AP Top 25 Poll being dropped for Week 3.
The latest batch of college football rankings have arrived with the AP Top 25 Poll being released ahead of Week 3’s action.
While Labor Day Weekend was fun and all, Week 2 of the 2022 college football season was wild. A handful of top-tier teams fell in shocking fashion. Notre Dame falls to 0-3 under Marcus Freeman after a head-scratching loss to Marshall. Texas A&M could not hang with Appalachian State at home. And the Alabama Crimson Tide needed a last-minute field goal to beat Texas in Austin.
Here are the latest college football rankings with the AP Top 25 Poll coming out for Week 3.
College football rankings: AP Top 25 Poll, Week 3: Dawgs on top, Bama at No. 2
This is what the Associated Press decided were the top 25 teams in the country ahead of Week 3.
- Georgia Bulldogs
- Alabama Crimson Tide
- Ohio State Buckeyes
- Michigan Wolverines
- Clemson Tigers
- Oklahoma Sooners
- USC Trojans
- Oklahoma State Cowboys
- Kentucky Wildcats
- Arkansas Razorbacks
- Michigan State Spartans
- BYU Cougars
- Miami Hurricanes
- Utah Utes
- Tennessee Volunteers
- North Carolina State Wolfpack
- Baylor Bears
- Florida Gators
- Wake Forest Demon Deacons
- Ole Miss Rebels
- Texas Longhorns
- Penn State Nittany Lions
- Pittsburgh Panthers
- Texas A&M Aggies
- Oregon Ducks
Georgia moves up to No. 1 after shutting out Samford at home. The Dawgs are the reigning national champions. With how difficult it was for Alabama to beat Texas in Austin, nobody should have a huge problem with Georgia being the No. 1 team in the country until proven otherwise. The top five teams this week are Georgia, Alabama, Ohio State, Michigan and Clemson in that order.
Rounding out the top 10 are Oklahoma, USC, Oklahoma State, Kentucky and Arkansas in that order. No. 11 through No. 15 are Michigan State, BYU, Miami, Utah and Tennessee. No. 16 through No. 20 are North Carolina State, Baylor, Florida, Wake Forest and Ole Miss. Texas, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Texas A&M and Oregon round out the top 25. Look at Texas making it in after a loss!
The big takeaway in all this is Georgia and Michigan still have the feel of playoff teams after last year’s success, while Alabama has some work to do, alright. Nick Saban will get this puppy figured out in Tuscaloosa in short order. In the meantime, we clearly overhyped the likes of Notre Dame and Texas A&M this season. Keep an eye on Arkansas and Kentucky in the SEC going forward.
Expect for the next AP Poll to look even more crazy after another slate of games being played.
