Cincinnati Bengals star quarterback Joe Burrow is starting the 2022 season a bit rough. In just the first half of the game, he produced nearly as many INTs as his rookie year.
Burrow had three interceptions in the first half of the season opener.
He also fumbled the ball, making four total turnovers.
In his first season, he had five interceptions total. That was over the span of ten games. In just 30 minutes this season, he nearly achieved the same output. He’s appearing to be struggling following a Super Bowl season.
Though it’s too early in the season to tell whether or not he’ll re-produce his former success, it doesn’t seem promising.
Bengals star QB Joe Burrow doesn’t seem to be on a good track this season
Burrow helped lead the Bengals to the Super Bowl last season, but he doesn’t seem quite as promising yet this season.
Last season, over 16 games, he played extremely well with a completion percentage of 70.4 and 4,611 total passing yards. He had the best completion percentage in the NFL last season and was quickly considered one of the best quarterbacks, despite only being in his second season.
He did miss most of training camp following an appendix removal, so that may be hindering his performance. He was reportedly looking well in practices over the week leading up to the anticipated Week 1 rivalry matchup.
According to Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com, Burrow said, “I’m feeling really good. Throwing it the way I want to throw it, hit all my speed numbers, feeling strong in the weight room. Feel really good.”
Hopefully, Burrow will be back to the elite level of play we witnessed last year en route to a Super Bowl visit.
