J.J. McCarthy starting over Cade McNamara makes this Michigan team dangerous

No, I don’t think Jim Harbaugh is actually going to cut his quarterbacks in half. However, he may have inadvertently gone about his quarterbacking dilemma the right way this offseason. Sure, it could totally blow up in his face later on, but J.J. McCarthy looked exceptional in his first start of the season vs. Hawaii. Yes, it was Hawaii, but his talent was on full display vs. the Rainbow Warriors.

As far as Cade McNamara is concerned, this just kind of stinks for him. He was the Wolverines’ starting quarterback on their best team in a generation. Michigan won the Big Ten and made it to the College Football Playoff for the first time. However, we all are seeing that McCarthy has the higher ceiling of the two quarterbacks. If he is ready to take the reins, Michigan could win it all.

We won’t really know until Big Ten play commences, but the Wolverines might be a wagon, gang!

Haynes King needs to be replaced by Max Johnson, effective immediately

It was a bold choice for Jimbo Fisher to go with Haynes King as his starting quarterback over former LSU starter Max Johnson and promising prospect Conner Weigman. King was the Aggies’ starter for a game and a quarter a year ago before breaking his leg vs. Colorado. Although he possesses a great deal of mobility, King got shamelessly outdueled by Chase Brice on Saturday.

If Texas A&M wants to save its season and not be more of the same 8-4 nonsense they have been throughout most of their stay in the SEC, Fisher has to go with a quarterback who can actually throw the ball with conviction. Johnson may not have the highest of ceilings, but he has a great deal of pedigree on his side. His father Brad won a Super Bowl and Mark Richt is the guy’s uncle.

Starting King going forward means the Aggies are not interested in winning games this season.
