3. If only the Hawks could keep the Falcons from choking

In this moment, Trae Young probably wanted to try the Heimlich maneuver on the Atlanta Falcons as he watched them slowly choke on another loss.

At this point, it hurts to watch. The Atlanta Falcons boasted a historic NFL offense in 2016, and Matty Ice got his envious nickname for being cool under pressure.

Yet somehow, the Falcons always manage to muck it up at the last minute.

The New Orleans Saints scored 17 points in the fourth quarter.

I repeat: The New Orleans Saints scored 17 points in the fourth quarter.

This just isn’t even fair anymore. It’s not fair to Cordarrelle Patterson, who has had a complete renaissance with the Falcons and rushed for 120 yards in the season opener. Drake London averaged 14.8 yards per reception. This isn’t fair to any of them.

Also, how could this possibly keep happening through so many simulations? How much has this roster changed, yet the end result remained the same?

It doesn’t even feel like the Falcons’ fault anymore, as only a universal conspiracy could explain this amount of bad luck. (Also, yeah, there’s the coaching.)

Demario Davis was joking, but we really do need to wave a Falcons flag for all the hope lost in this game.
