In honor of Arrowhead Stadium’s 50th anniversary, the Chiefs gave their fans an elite throwback look ahead of their Thursday Night bout with the Chargers.

For 50 years, Arrowhead Stadium has been the site of success, loud crowds, and disappointment as the home of the Kansas City Chiefs. Now, the team is giving their fans a feeling of the past.

Before their Thursday Night bout against the Los Angeles Chargers, the team is renovating the field, bringing back the endzone look from when the group first took their place in the arena.

Talk about a great paint job, and props to the grounds crew and those who made this possible. It looks beautiful. Moreover, it should serve as an advantage for the Chiefs.

Even before this recent surge of success by the men in red, much of the Chiefs’ success has occurred at Arrowhead Stadium. However, there have been many playoff disappointments, including the most recent AFC Championship Game against Cincinnati.

Chiefs give fans a fantastic throwback look with the turf at Arrowhead Stadium.

What many people forget, however, is that the first game at Arrowhead Stadium featured the Chiefs against the eventual Super Bowl Champion Dolphins, who would complete a perfect season. That day was brutally hot, and Miami won the game 20-10.

But that was the past. This time, Kansas City hosts the L.A. Chargers, a team similar to them in many ways. Both play in the AFC West and boast explosive offenses and strong pass rushers on defense. Both are expected to make a serious run for the playoffs and the Super Bowl, so this game has significant value. That and the Chargers’ last visit to Arrowhead resulted in a victory for L.A.

Kansas City will be back in Arrowhead for the first time since the AFC Title Game, and those fans are hoping to cheer their team to a win in their first home game of the year. The best part is that they get to do it while admiring the new design of the field and paying homage to the beginning of their home.
