1. Another year of LeBron James and Anthony Davis

LeBron is entering his 20th NBA season and somehow still has the potential to be the best player on the floor on any given night. At the age of 37, he nearly won a scoring title on the fourth-highest effective field goal percentage of his career. And while his minutes may be shrinking and planned rest a bigger part of his schedule, there’s no reason to think his possession-to-possession performance is fading.

And then there are the milestones that are coming. LeBron needs just 1,325 points to pass Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and become the NBA’s all-time leading scorer. As long as he stays healthy, he should fly past that mark in the spring, a can’t-miss moment of NBA history.

Davis struggled to stay on the court last season and looked off at times even when he was. But he’s been working hard with a shooting coach over the summer to improve on his sliding efficiency numbers and at least one NBA analyst is projecting him to be a bounce-back MVP candidate this season. (Yes, it’s Kendrick Perkins, but still).

However the final regular season standings shake out, LeBron and Davis are still two of the best players in the NBA and when they’re on the court, the Lakers can play with anyone.
