Packers bold predictions: 1. Romeo Doubs will lead Green Bay in receptions
Doubs didnāt arrive in Green Bay with the same fanfare as Watson, but the fourth-round pick looked like the superior player in his debut. Itās notable that Doubs was tied for second on the team with five targets despite being listed as a backup against Minnesota.
More important than tallying five targets was the fact that Doubs managed to turn them into four catches. That efficiency will endear him to Rodgers as the season rolls along.
Itās also why Doubs is going to quickly emerge as the teamās most reliable receiver against the Chicago secondary. He will use his six-foot-two frame to win the type of contested balls Rodgers isnāt afraid to throw. Add in his ability to turn his speed into yards after the catch and itās easy to see his potential to make a big impact as a rookie.
This week may not be Doubsā coming out party per se, but he will be Green Bayās leader in receptions against the Bears. It will serve as a meaningful step forward for a player the Packers quietly need to develop in a hurry if they want to develop into legitimate Super Bowl contenders. Somewhere between six and eight caches should be enough for Doubs to lead the skill position group for the Packers in Week 2.
