The Alabama Crimson Tide actually picked up a rare victory over the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks on Sept. 17.

Victories are not rarities for the Alabama Crimson Tide, especially since Nick Saban took over the program as head coach. However, there is one team that they had a losing record against, and that was the UL Monroe Warhawks. They met three times in the past, with the Crimson Tide only win one of them.

Well, the series is now tied up thanks to a gutsy, inspired win. And by that, we mean a massive blowout victory by the second-ranked team in the nation.

Alabama defeated UL Monroe 63-7 behind a four-touchdown performance by quarterback Bryce Young.

For those wondering how the previous three meetings against these two schools went, we have you covered, courtesy of Winsipedia.

  • Sept. 16, 2006: Alabama wins 41-7 (win was later vacated)
  • Nov. 17, 2007: UL Monroe wins 21-14
  • Sept. 26, 2015: Alabama wins 34-0

While Alabama technically won the first meeting, it was vacated by the NCAA due to 16 athletics teams improperly distributing free textbooks to other students. As a result, the Crimson Tide football program had 21 victories vacated between the 2005 season to the 2007 season. All six of Alabama’s wins in 2006 were thrown out, officially giving them a record of 0-7.

The 2022 meeting, as seen by the score, was not even close. The Crimson Tide jumped out to an early 28-0 lead at the end of the first quarter, highlighted by a pick-six from potential No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft in linebacker Will Anderson Jr., a punt blocked and returned for a touchdown, and a scoring pass and run by Bryce Young. From there, the Crimson Tide did not let up.

UL Monroe’s lone touchdown of the game arrived in the second quarter on an 11-yard run by running back Malik Jackson.

The Crimson Tide out-gained the Warhawks 509 yards of total offense to 169. The Warhawks actually held onto the football longer, logging a time of possession of 36:23.

Alabama now prepares to face off against the Vanderbilt Commodores next week.
