Projected AP Top 25 college football rankings after Week 3: No. 2-1
2. Alabama Crimson Tide
For anyone that was curious if there would be any kind of hangover for Alabama after nearly getting clipped by Clemson last week, the answer was a decisive no. Granted, a large part of that was thanks to getting a matchup against UL Monroe at Bryant-Denny Stadium, but it was still an impressive effort from the Crimson Tide.
Bryce Young led the way with four total touchdowns, although he did throw two picks that werenāt great. But with a dominant defensive effort that included a pick-six from Will Anderson Jr., his first career touchdown, there was never a worry for Bama as they won, 63-7.
Now itās onto SEC play as they start with a 3-1 Vanderbilt team. It shouldnāt be a hefty challenge but itās clear that Nick Saban is still ironing out some kinks with his team.
1. Georgia Bulldogs
You could make the argument that Georgia won twice on Saturday. Kirby Smartās team obviously got the job done on the field in a dominant 48-7 effort against South Carolina to make an early SEC East statement. But the Dawgs got just as much of a boost with Oregon welcoming BYU to Eugene and beating the pants off of the Cougars, making UGAās 49-3 win over the Ducks look even more jaw-dropping.
There was little question that Georgia was the top team in the country after the first couple of weeks of the season, but that was cemented on Saturday in Columbia. This team might not have an equal in the country this season based on what weāve seen to this point and the Dawgs might just be in full-on Death Star mode with no Luke Skywalker shooting womp-rats in sight.
