Florida State made weird college football history beating Louisville on Friday
By John Buhler
The Florida State Seminoles will beat anybody, anywhere, on any given day of the week.
With the Florida State Seminoles improving to 3-0 on the season, Mike Norvell’s team just did something that has never happened before in the history of college football.
No, it was not a scorigami like UNC’s thrilling win over App State a few weeks ago, but the Noles have shown us that they can beat anybody, anywhere, on any given day of the week. They won their Week 0 game over Duquesne at home on a Saturday. Two weeks ago, the Seminoles spoiled Brian Kelly’s LSU debut on a Sunday night in the Superdome. Now, they beat Louisville on a Friday.
Thus, the Noles have become the first team in college football history to start the year out 3-0 with a win on a different day of the week each time.
Florida State Seminoles are 3-0 with wins on different days of the week
Do not look now, but Norvell has his program trending in the right direction. A home win over Duquesne was expected, but not necessarily a road date in New Orleans. As far as the game in Louisville on a Friday night, Scott Satterfield’s team is nearly 0-3, if not for a come-from-behind win at UCF last week in Orlando. For now, Florida State is getting back to playing ball like it should.
All things equal, Florida State should be the best program in the ACC, year in and year out. The Seminoles have a rich football history and a ton of resources at its disposal in a talent-rich state like Florida. However, one bad hire after another in the post-Jimbo Fisher era has hurt the program considerably. Norvell was a huge get coming over from Memphis, but had his work cut out for him.
As long as the Noles keep winning, everything should be just fine in Tallahassee. Of course, former Florida State star Deion Sanders is doing extraordinary things at HBCU Jackson State. It would be such a shame if Georgia Tech fires Geoff Collins and the Ramblin’ Wreck are led by Atlanta Falcons legend Coach Prime in 2023. Then again, winning is a cure-all of sorts and FSU can get used to this.
It would be amazing if the Seminoles got to play a game on a Monday through Thursday this year.
