10 snapshots that capture the glory of NFL Week 2 comebacks
8. Tyreek Hill flashes trademark deuces as connection with Tua Tagovailoa strengthens
Tyreek Hill is far from the first NFL player to flash a peace sign as he strides into the endzone.
But Hill has certainly made a spectacle of it. He did it against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2020, and Antoine Winfield Jr. returned the favor in the Super Bowl in February 2021.
The move was reprimanded at the time, but with the NFL focusing on illegal contact fouls this season, it seems that Hill’s signal is back and here to stay.
It’s likely that every defensive back Hill burns waits for the chance to mirror his move, but the truth is that few get the chance. Hill not only says, “peace” to passing defenders, but he says it to the past and preconceived notions. It’s lovely that the Kansas City Chiefs are humming along without Hill, but it’s equally thrilling to see what separating Hill and pairing him with the Dolphins has done for Miami.
Hill led the team in yards on Sunday, landing 11 receptions for 190 yards and two touchdowns. But Jaylen Waddle wasn’t far behind, as he also nabbed 11 receptions for 171 yards and two touchdowns.
Two Tyreek Hills on one offense? Or conversely, two Jaylen Waddles on one squad? Is that the two Hill’s finger represent right here?
All we know is with these two combined, Tua Tagovailoa is back in his Alabama bag. Tua passed for 469 yards and six touchdowns. Goodbye to underestimations of this AFC contender.
