The Ohio State Buckeyes have officially activated blackout mode vs. the Wisconsin Badgers.

There will be a funeral in the Big Ten on Saturday night, as the Ohio State Buckeyes will lay to rest the Wisconsin Badgers’ slim College Football Playoff chances during their blackout game in The Horseshoe.

Ohio State is the No. 3 team in the land. Although the arch rival Michigan Wolverines are right on their tail at No. 4, there are few places in college football that are tougher to play in than Ohio Stadium. Not only will it be a night game in Columbus, but this will be a blackout game for Buckeye Nation. There has never been a better time to listen to Metallica’s masterpiece “Fade to Black.”

Wisconsin will not even be down 10 points mentally before the Badgers get off the bus. They are dead on arrival. Good. Night. Badgers…

Ohio State will lay Wisconsin to rest during Saturday night’s blackout game

Because the Badgers lost a weird one to Washington State, they have to run the table to have any shot at reaching the College Football Playoff. Yes, they can still win the Big Ten West, but that is looking like the worst division in the Power Five. Once divisions dissolve in the Big Ten, Wisconsin may lose a bit of its relevance, as they will have to duke it out with the big boys out of the old East.

As for the Buckeyes, it is national championship or bust. Who cares if they did not even win the Big Ten East last year? Ohio State is on a very short list of, maybe six, teams who can realistically win the 2023 College Football Playoff at season’s end. Even if the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Georgia Bulldogs are absolutely terrifying in the SEC, Ohio State has the weapons to keep pace…

Ultimately, anything short of a complete evisceration of Paul Chryst’s team in primetime will be met with great disappointment by Buckeye Nation and the college football media at large. While surviving Notre Dame in primetime three weeks ago sounded good in theory, the Irish may not even be a bowl team. They nearly lost at home to Cal! Ohio State needs to look dominant here.

It is going to be so beyond unfathomable if Ohio State somehow loses this game to Wisconsin…
