3 sleeper MLB teams who could sign Aaron Judge this offseason
2) Chicago White Sox
On the South Side of Chicago, the Chicago White Sox could also use Aaron Judge.
The White Sox have Luis Robert, who is a very good center fielder when he’s healthy. Andrew Vaughn is also a very good offensive player who could be at first base, left field, or DH (DH would be optimal). However, in right field, the White Sox are lacking talent.
Their primary right fielder has been Gavin Sheets, who has been league average (100 wRC+) offensively and well below league average defensively (-10 DRS). Judge is obviously better offensively since he has been the best offensive player in the sport, but defensively, Judge is an average to above-average player as well.
Financially, according to Spotrac, the White Sox have just under $197 million on their payroll now. They have just under $147 million on the books for next year, so they could afford to sign Judge for next year and not be overextended for the luxury tax threshold.
