ESPN’s Paul Finebaum says that Alabama is no longer the best program in college football.
Since Nick Saban’s arrival, the Alabama Crimson Tide have been viewed as the premier program in all of college football, and they have six national titles to prove it. This season, Alabama has been far from dominant, highlighted by them barely edging out the Texas Longhorns in Week 2.
On the Sept. 21 edition of ESPN’s “Get Up,” Finebaum expressed his belief that Alabama is no longer the top program in college football. He says that that title now belongs to the Georgia Bulldogs, the defending CFP national champions.

Paul Finebaum says Georgia, not Alabama, is the top college football program
Finebaum cites that Alabama has not replaced the elite wide receivers and defensive players that left for the NFL. But, he also brings up Kirby Smart being at Georgia is a big reason for that, saying that the current Bulldogs head coach was Saban’s most valuable assistant.
This season, the Bulldogs have been dominant against their opponents. In their opening game, they defeated the Oregon Ducks 49-3. The very Ducks team that beat the BYU Cougars 41-20.
In their next two games, Georgia shut out the Samford Bulldogs 33-0, and cruised to a 48-7 win over the South Carolina Gamecocks.
Georgia took over the top spot in the AP Top 25 list in Week 3 after Alabama beat Texas 20-19.
The Bulldogs look to continue their undefeated season when they take on the Kent State Golden Flashes. As for the Crimson Tide, they take on the Vanderbilt Commodores. So far this season, it looks as though we are heading to another Alabama-Georgia SEC title game.
