Ranking the top 10 rising teenagers in MLS

8. Cade Cowell (San Jose Earthquakes)
San Jose Earthquakes’ exciting forward broke into the side in 2020 and received plenty of attention globally for his pace, strength, and ability to settle into senior football so well at such a young age.
The academy in San Jose has been producing some quality players in recent years, Cowell has been one of the standouts while Cruz Medina and Emannuel Ochoa look set to be following in his footsteps.
Cowell was able to use his pace to get in behind defenses as he broke into MLS and has since had to ensure he has worked on his ability to be a danger to defenses who sit deep. Carrying the ball, operating in tight areas, as well as his link-up play have all been improved since opposing teams adapted to not give him the space to run into.
He has been used as a center forward and a winger by San Jose as well as the USA U20s while earning one cap for the USMNT in 2021, coming on as a substitute against Bosnia in an International friendly.
As Cowell improves his all-around game, he continues to become a vital part of the San Jose first team. His potential is high and many clubs across Europe will be monitoring how he continues to grow his game. He will no doubt be the subject of a transfer to a top-five league soon.
