Ozzie Guillen wants the White Sox to be a little bit more like the Cleveland Guardians, who are a lot of fun this season.
The Cleveland Guardians are on a tear and are a lot of fun at the end of this season. Honestly, most teams in the MLB should want to capture some of the spunk the Guardians bring to the table.
Perhaps none more so than Ozzie Guillen who wants the White Sox to be like the Guardians.
Ozzie Guillen roasts the White Sox, Twins for being nothing like the Guardians
Some hard-hitting analysis coming in from Guillen:
"“That’s fun, bro. That’s fun baseball! I wish anybody in baseball have team, a team, not players. It’s a lot of better players around the league better. A team like those guys. ‘Cause they show up.”"
The Guardians have a 7-game lead in the AL Central and are 8-2 in their last 10 games. In their last two series, both against AL Central teams, they won four of five against the Minnesota Twins and swept the White Sox in a three-game series. With 12 games left in the season, they’re about to secure a No. 3 seed in the playoff picture.
Guillen is right that they’re a complete team blowing expectations away. And they’re lots of fun. They have six batters with an OPS over .700, and rank fifth in ERA among AL East teams. Much of their success is hardly quantifiable though. Cleveland has grit and hustle, factors that help create wins but are extremely hard to measure discretely. They lead the MLB in infield hits (147) according to FanGraphs.
In the series against the White Sox, the Guardians had five total infield hits.
“We are in town. Be careful with your girlfriends because they might come have a drink with us tonight,” Guillen concluded about the Guardians hilariously.
