1) Braves won’t win the World Series because of their lack of home field advantage if they fail to win the division

If the Braves can’t catch the Mets and win the National League East, they’re going to have a tough road ahead of them. Quite literally.

The No. 4 seed, which goes to the first Wild Card team, will allow them to host three games to start things off. The Braves shouldn’t have too much of a problem disposing of whoever they could possibly play in round one.

It’s when we get to round two when things shift. The number four seed would have to face the Los Angeles Dodgers in a best of five with three of those games taking place in Southern California.

Even if the Braves were able to get through that gauntlet, they’d end up in a best of seven against the Mets or St. Louis Cardinals with the opponent having the home field advantage.

Having to play more games on the road than at home isn’t a death sentence for Atlanta. It does, however, make things tougher. The Braves would have to beat three very good teams as a road squad—assuming they won’t have the home field advantage in the World Series either.

Worse teams than the 2022 Braves have defied those odds in the past. They may end up settling with a wild card spot but anyone they face will think of them as much more. Even so, not having “last ups” in a finale of the NLDS, NLCS, and even World Series could set them up for a downfall.
