Bryan Harsin replacements: Jamey Chadwell

Chadwell has made Coastal Carolina a national brand. It’s time to up the challenge.

Chadwell is the next Group-of-5 coach to leave, eventually. The job will come that eventually pries Chadwell away from Myrtle Beach, despite the success he’s seen there. Nebraska, Auburn and more will contact Chadwell. Assuming he waits until the offseason, he’ll have more options.

Chadwell admitted to “maybe” speaking with Tennessee and South Carolina when their jobs were open. While those two school weren’t enough to entice him, Auburn is on another level, and can offer the kind of money it would take to entice the Coastal Carolina coach.

Auburn has won a national championship this century. Those other two SEC schools have not. End of story.

Bryan Harsin replacements: Matt Rhule

Rhule is coaching in the NFL, and hanging on to his job by a thread. The Carolina Panthers made a gigantic leap when they hired Rhule in the first place out of Baylor.

Rhule moved his way up the college coaching chain via Temple and then Baylor. He turned around a Bears program that had been hit with major sanctions. In doing so, he ensured he’d always have a backup job.

What Rhule was able to do with major sanctions levied against the Baylor football program is nothing short of impressive. Just imagine what he’s capable of at Auburn, a major SEC program just a few pieces short of really competing in the Western division?

Assuming Rhule can’t turn things around with the Panthers, there will be a number of college jobs waiting for him next offseason. Auburn should be one of them.
