Fantasy football running back sleepers for week 3: Khalil Herbert, Chicago Bears

David Montgomery has had a solid start to the season. Behind him, Khalil Herbert has been playing well, too. On the season, he’s gone 13 rushes for 83 yards and a touchdown. While the volume simply isn’t there for Herbert yet, he’s shown big-play ability with the possibility of capitalizing on every touch he gets.

Against Houston’s awful run defense this week (third-worst in total rushing yards given up this year), Herbert may get some usage as the Bears try to hide their ugly passing game and pound Houston on the ground. He won’t get starter volume, but he could see some sneakily-good numbers.

Fantasy football running back sleepers for week 3: Tyler Allgeier, Atlanta Falcons

Tyler Allgeier was one of the rookie running backs that received starter hype all offseason, only to be a healthy scratch in Week 1. However, last week, due to an injury to Damien Williams, he was active and went 10-30 on the ground. While that isn’t a fantasy-relevant day, it’s the number of carries that stood out to me.

Allgeier immediately cut into Cordarrelle Patterson’s workload, and if the Falcons want more upside in their offense, they will continue to gradually give Allgeier more work. It was an encouraging development for the rookie, and he has room for so much more.
