Kansas State has made Oklahoma’s life miserable in the past. They did it again in Week 4 with a huge upset of the Sooners.
Anyone who has watched recent matchups between Kansas State and Oklahoma knew the 2022 edition of that series could be a juicy one. The Wildcats always seem to play the Sooners tough.
But with KSU coming off a loss to Tulane, it felt like this wouldn’t be the year for an upset. Until it was.
The Wildcats jumped on the Sooners early and then saw out a victory to knock Oklahoma out of the Top 10.
Best reactions to Oklahoma’s playoff dreams crushed by Kansas State upset
Oklahoma is probably also out of playoff contention with this one. The result had Skip Bayless melting down and the college football media racking the Sooners over the coals.

K-State has now scored its most points ever in Norman in a series that began in 1908. If this is the last time K-State visits Norman, the Wildcats are walking out of here in record-setting style. Buh-bye Oklahoma.

I was told that Brent Venables would fix the defense at Oklahoma.

Brent Venables' Oklahoma Sooners just played a mind-blowingly poor football game. So many missed tackles & throws. So many crucially dumb penalties, so shockingly little pass rush. Adrian Martinez & Kryptonite State just wanted it so much more. SO HARD TO WATCH. Doomer Sooner.

In my LIFE, I've never been more stunned by the outcome of a football game than what I just witnessed Kansas State do to Oklahoma in Norman. The Wildcats just OWN us.

Adrian Martinez, who previously challenged Oklahoma with Nebraska, rushed for 148 yards and four rushing touchdowns. He also passed for a score.
Head coach Brent Venables has been tasked with shoring up Oklahoma’s defense but on Saturday they proved they have a long way to go. Kansas State scored two touchdowns almost immediately and kept outpacing the Sooners.
The Oklahoma offense stuttered early but eventually got going. It just wasn’t enough to match the output of the Wildcats.
The Sooners will try to bounce back next week on the road against TCU. Then they’ll go head-to-head with Texas in the Red River Showdown.
Venables will need time to get things on track. He is a first-time head coach after all. Still, no Sooners fan wanted to see the first loss come this way against a team that clearly has their own vulnerabilities. That’s college football for you though.
