Gallup was expected to make his season debut against the New York Giants on Monday night.
Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy essentially said Michael Gallup will play on Monday. But he will be on a pitch count. It will come in a role, he said.

Cowboys QB Cooper Rush on WR Michael Gallup, who is expected to play Monday in limited role: "It's awesome having him back out there. You kind of forget how big he is. He walks in the huddle, and you're like, 'Oh, 13 is back in the huddle.'" Making plays. "He seems good to me."

However, Gallup surprisingly ended up being inactive.
#Cowboys WR Michael Gallup is also expected to be inactive tonight against the #Giants, per source. His return from knee reconstruction will have to wait at least another week.

LB Micah Parsons, who barely practiced this week because of illness, is good to go. https://t.co/orvi1aYV4H
In 2019, Gallup was a fantasy asset. He had 66 receptions for 1,107 yards and six touchdowns in 14 games.
In 2021, he was limited to only nine games due to a calf injury. Unfortunately, he went on to tear his ACL in Week 17 against the Cardinals. He finished the season with 35 receptions for 445 yards and two touchdowns.
In Week 2, the Cowboys’ offense showed signs of life with Cooper Rush at quarterback. The Cowboys’ receivers combined for 19 receptions, 235 yards, and one touchdown against the Cincinnati Bengals.
If Gallup returns this week, he will have an excellent matchup against the Washington Commanders. The Commanders have allowed the third-most fantasy points to opposing wide receivers this season.
Even if Gallup does not play, he is still a valuable player to stash on your bench.
