Cleveland Browns pass-rusher Myles Garrett was involved in a violent car accident on Monday. Here’s everything to know so far.

Garrett and a female passenger suffered non-life threatening injuries in the accident, which occurred on Monday. However, the All-Pro did suffer “a shoulder sprain, biceps strain, minor lacerations,” per the Browns.

The former No. 1 overall pick’s status for Week 4 is still up in the air. Both Garrett and the passenger were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident, per reports, which prevented further injury.

On Thursday, a further update stated that Garrett will receive a citation for ‘failure to control his motor vehicle’ as he was driving 65 mph in an area with a 45-mph speed limit.

Per the reporting officer, “I observed a laceration on Mr. Garrett’s right wrist/hand and asked him what injuries he sustained. Garrett stated he had pain in his right wrist/hand, right bicep, left shoulder and the left side of his face.” Garrett’s car reportedly rolled over three times.

Garrett sat out practice on Wednesday, but was back at the Browns practice facility on Thursday, which appears to be a good sign. Defensive coordinator Joe Woods said that Garrett did not practice in his first day back after the accident. The following, from ESPN, sums up the serious nature of the incident at hand:

"“According to the highway patrol, Garrett crashed his 2021 Porsche near Wadsworth, Ohio, striking a ditch after leaving the road. His car then hit a fire hydrant before overturning several times. A female passenger who was in the vehicle also was taken to the hospital with what were described as minor injuries.”"

Officers have said on multiple occasions that drugs or alcohol are not suspected in this accident. Garrett has been cited for speeding on at least six occasions, including twice in a 24-hour period in 2021, “first for driving 120 MPH and then for going 105,” per the New York Post.
