Tyreek Hill reveals how worried Dolphins were about Tua Tagovailoa
By John Buhler
Tyreek Hill and the rest of his Miami Dolphins teammates are concerned about the health of Tua Tagovailoa.
All Tyreek Hill and the Miami Dolphins want is for Tua Tagovailoa to be okay after his head injury.
While Miami was dealt its first loss of the season on Thursday Night Football to the defending AFC champion Cincinnati Bengals in Week 4, all anybody really cares about this morning is Tagovailoa’s health. He sustained an obvious concussion in the game, potentially suffering from second impact syndrome, as the Dolphins appeared to get away with not diagnosing a concussion from Sunday.
On Sunday, Tagovailoa was allowed to return to the game after being evaluated for a concussion. This involves a sign-off from the team physician and a third-party neurological consultant.
Although Teddy Bridgewater filled in admirably on Thursday night, Hill and the rest of his teammates’ primary concern was the health of their starting quarterback.

From a football standpoint, this is a critical season for Tagovailoa, and the Dolphins organization to some extent. This is year three for him out of Alabama, but only the first of him playing for a head coach who believes in him. Mike McDaniel might be a first-time head coach, but he had done so well up until Thursday when his first taste of adversity hit him and his team like a ton of bricks…
From a life standpoint, this looks to possibly be Tagovailoa’s second concussion in four days. Whoever evaluated him last Sunday after the team’s huge win over the division rival Buffalo Bills did so to Tagovailoa’s detriment. He may have suffered what was reported as a back injury, but the man looked concussed while trying to get himself off the turf. Thursday’s events were far too graphic.
Ultimately, the Dolphins have done wrong by Tagovailoa every step of the way. McDaniel’s predecessor Brian Flores had no desire to ever coach him. While things might have been looking up for the franchise, it is hard to see the Dolphins being a top-seven team in the AFC if Bridgewater has to play for extended stretches. Head injuries are not something to mess with.
While we would love to see Tagovailoa back under center soon, some things are more important.
