College football rankings 2022: Projected Week 6 AP Top 25 after Oklahoma embarrassed, Texas A&M exposed
Projecting the Week 6 AP Top 25 college football rankings after losses to Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Minnesota and others shook up the standings.
If you thought things were too steady last week, the college football slate for Week 5 showed up intent on giving fans something to talk about.
A total of 10 teams from the last AP Top 25 lost games this week. That’s just one shy of the record for ranked teams losing.
That means the rankings for this week will look quite a bit different.
Projected AP Top 25 college football rankings after Week 5: No. 25-21
25. Syracuse Orange
Syracuse blasted Wagner, 59-0, this week. That may not be a signature win but it was win No. 5 and that’s got to count for something.
24. Florida State Seminoles
Florida State lost to Wake Forest but they were in that game and gave a decent accounting of themselves. Meanwhile the LSU team they beat in the season opener is now 4-1.
23. Arkansas Razorbacks
Give Arkansas credit where credit is due. They fell behind big to Alabama and could have given up all hope. Instead, they fought back to give the Crimson Tide a scare.
22. Baylor Bears
Baylor now has two losses but at least they are both against ranked teams. Losing to Oklahoma State is a blow to the Bears’ Big-12 title defense but it shouldn’t drop them from the rankings.
21. Washington Huskies
Maybe Michigan State is just that bad? That upset victory over the then-No. 11 Spartans propelled Washington up the rankings but that win has only gotten less impressive. Friday’s humbling loss to UCLA further cut into the Huskies’ resume. They’re still 4-1 but their time remaining in the rankings will be brief if they don’t get their defense sorted out.
