Jets land the most New York tweet ever as they cop win over Steelers
Now is the perfect time to be a New York Jets fan, even if it’s just to get tweets like this off and win over New York Twitter.
The Jets won on Sunday, but their glorious 24-22 win went beyond the field.
The person who runs the Jets Twitter account won big by gloating about the win with a nod to NYC’s sneakerhead culture.
The phrase has been used to tout the ability to get an exclusive shoe, which can be virtually impossible due to astronomical prices, low availability and the prevalence of bots.
“The screenshot of the SNKRS app saying you “GOT ‘EM” has become a new form of social currency,” explains Will Chavez on Medium.
After the Jets beat the Steelers, there’s no better way to describe getting a hard-fought win: Got ‘Em.
Not only did New York cop an exclusive win and rain on Kenny Pickett’s debut parade, but a triumphant Zach Wilson returned in Week 4 and brought home the win. Facing a ten-point deficit in the fourth quarter, Wilson combatted the odds, caught a touchdown, and made sure to Griddy in the endzone.
It’s truly “a new day for the Jets“, as NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero put it. With two narrow wins under their belt, the 2-2 Jets and their fans are ready to head to the moon on early-season hype.
Jets soar after Steelers win with perfect Twitter presence
As of now, the Jets’ bio on Twitter reads, “how do we get to be in the Braxton + Zach best friends club???” Seeing their connection on the first touchdown of the day felt like catching lightning in a bottle, an electricity the New York team hopes to capitalize in the coming weeks.
“There was no flinch on either side of the ball,” head coach Robert Saleh said when his team stared down Kenny Pickett in Acrisure Stadium.
“The guys just kept plugging away,” Saleh continued. “You go back to Zach specifically, just hanging in the pocket. He was very poised, very calm. Throwing the ball — throwing darts, throwing lasers exactly where they needed to go. Guys were grinding after the catch, getting yards after the catch…no flinch.”
Riding the Week 4 high with the “no flinch” mentality, the team wields a significant advantage in their Week 5 NFL London game against a Miami Dolphins team without Tua Tagovailoa. Still, they’ll have to face Tyreek Hill, who apparently could have been in the Braxton + Zach Best Friends Club.
Learning that Tyreek Hill almost signed with the Jets does sting, but perhaps the Jets will be able to get their revenge come Sunday. After all, they got the Steelers.
