Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster may have taken a shot at his former team, the Pittsburgh Steelers, on Sunday Night Football.

Evidently, the Steelers offense isn’t all that complicated.

When Smith-Schuster was with Pittsburgh — so from 2018-21 — the Steelers’ offense was comprised of some talented players. However, the playcalling essentially came down to whatever Ben Roethlisberger wanted, which far too often was an aging Hall of Famer running around to no avail.

Roethlisberger was easy to plan for, especially late in his career. Randy Fichtner and Matt Canada were not the creative football minds they were hired to be. I’m pretty sure they found Fichtner dahn at a bar called Slapshots in the South Side.

Did JuJu Smith-Schuster take a shot at the Steelers?

On the Sunday Night Football broadcast, Smith-Schuster said he’s learned more about offense in his brief time with the Chiefs than his entire Steelers career combined. While that may sound like a stretch, it really is not given all I mentioned above about Pittsburgh’s offense during Smith-Schuster’s tenure in Pittsburgh.

He’s right, and it ought to be taken as an insult.

That’s not the first time Smith-Schuster has spoken out, seemingly against his former team. When he signed in Kansas City, he called his Chiefs practices the toughest of his career. What does that say about how Mike Tomlin runs things?

Tomlin is a defensive coach, and Smith-Schuster always seemed a little more concerned with his social media profile than his own development. But, say what you want about JuJu, he was always willing to put his body on the line when it mattered most.

That’s exactly why he’ll fit in perfectly with the Chiefs. Maybe keep him away from Jackson Mahomes for now, though.
