A pair of quarterbacks and a forgotten member of the Dallas Cowboys highlight the top fantasy football pickups for Week 5.

Finding valuable pickups in fantasy football is very important since leagues with smart owners often see the waiver wire picked clean of any intriguing talent very quickly. With byes set to begin in just two weeks, adding the right depth pieces to your roster can make all the difference between making the playoffs or trying to avoid last place in the consolation bracket.

We’re now four weeks into the season so let’s take a look at the five top pickups on the board that can help you secure a win in Week 5 and beyond. As always, rostered percentages are based on figures from Yahoo leagues.

5. Top Fantasy Football Pickups For Week 5 – Minnesota Vikings D/ST

Having a month’s worth of games in the books is valuable for streamers, who like to attack specific teams by picking up the defense playing against them in a given week. One popular target will be whoever plays the Chicago Bears, who have scored just 64 points over their first four games and are very hesitant to trust Justin Fields with a ton of responsibility in the passing game.

Add in a sieve-like offensive line and this is an offense that should serve up plenty of fantasy points to opposing defenses. The Bears draw the Minnesota Vikings in Week 5, who have capable pass rushers and should be able to stack up a decent number of sacks against Chicago.

The Vikings defense is rostered in 41 percent of Yahoo leagues, a figure that has spiked by 22 percent over the past 24 hours as savvy managers try to grab their streamers before waivers kick in. If your regular defense has a bad matchup in Week 5 going for Minnesota could be a nice backup plan.
