Yankees slugger Aaron Judge finally did it, cranking his 62nd home run of the 2022 season to break Roger Maris’ AL record and fans were out to celebrate.
He did it — Aaron Judge is the new American League home run king.
It took Aaron Judge what felt like an eternity to tie another New York Yankees legend, Roger Maris, with his 61st home run of the season. But with the season winding down, fans were beginning to worry if Judge would have the time to hit the record-breaking dinger before the end of the 162-game slate.
To lead off Game 2 of the club’s doubleheader against the Texas Rangers, though, Judge answered all of those questions. He took an easy pitch off of Jesus Tinoco and belted it 391 feet for the homer.

Best memes and reactions to Aaron Judge hitting record-breaking 62nd home run
Now the owner of the AL record all by himself (and the non-PED record if you ask Roger Maris Jr. for his absurd opinion), Judge was celebrated by everyone. Perhaps nothing was more entertaining than the reactions and memes that immediately started circulating on Twitter.

Yeah, but when you account for inflation it's like Aaron Judge only hit like 38 HR's...

Judge is the new American League king for dingers, but he still is only seventh on the all-time list, trailing most notably Barry Bonds and his 73-home run season, a record that has been controversial to many because of the Giants slugger’s connection to PEDs but that Judge himself has recognized as the proverbial “real record”.
Celebrate Aaron Judge Making History With BreakingT

This is undoubtedly a time to celebrate, though. In a league and age when it feels like even the best power-hitters in the league are unable to truly do anything close to this, to see a player like Judge in a market like New York be able to do that — including facing the pressure to do it that he has over the past few weeks — is truly remarkable.
