2) Jose Abreu rumors: Houston Astros could use him in two places

The Houston Astros should have a pair of openings for Jose Abreu to fill. Yulieski Gurriel had a poor regular season for them. Their DH situation is up in the air as well. Abreu, as a part-time first baseman and regular DH as well, could be a nice fit for a team that could give him a strong shot to finally win a championship.

We need to expect the Astros to be in on a lot of big name free agents this offseason regardless of whether or not they win a World Series. They have openings. They also have a young core in place. How do they do it?

Getting involved in any Jose Abreu rumors should be anticipated already. One of the great sports examples is Ray Bourque going from the Boston Bruins to the Colorado Avalanche to finally win a Stanley Cup. While Abreu isn’t quite the MLB equivalent of the great NHL defenseman, he is a longtime fan favorite for the White Sox and the Astros are as loaded as those old Avalanche clubs.

Abreu is not the kind of player who needs to settle for a team he can’t rely on to get into the postseason. The Astros are seemingly always there. They are a huge threat to take him away from the White Sox.
