Projected AP Top 25 college football rankings after Week 6: No. 14-13

14. TCU Horned Frogs

If you’re doubting the TCU Horned Frogs at this point, you’re just not watching the games. A week ago, they went out and thoroughly dismantled Oklahoma. But if you weren’t impressed by that, the Frogs went on the road to play everyone’s darling to start the season, Kansas, and was able to come out with a win and without a blemish on their record this season still.

Sonny Dykes has the TCU offense absolutely cooking behind Max Duggan, particularly with a future NFL wide receiver like Quentin Johnson as the primary target in the passing game. The defense has its warts and, frankly, could cost the Horned Frogs a game at some point this season. Even still, they are unbeaten despite a pretty tough schedule to this point and that deserves a big jump in the rankings.

13. UCLA Bruins

Any more questions about UCLA?

Coming into Saturday’s clash between the Bruins and Utah, there was seemingly an expectation from quite a few people that Chip Kelly’s team would get exposed when they finally faced real competition. Instead, Dorian Thompson-Robertson further installed himself as a true Heisman dark horse while the Bruins pulled off a big upset at home with a 42-32 win over the Utes.

Against teams like USC or Oregon, I still have doubts about what the UCLA defense is ultimately going to look like. But while that may be the case, this is an extremely dangerous offense that appears capable of putting points on the board against just about anyone. They’re not slipping under the radar any longer.
