It’ll take a bulldozer to pry Coach of the Year away from Brian Daboll
Don’t look now, but Brian Daboll is on a fast track to winning Coach of the Year, thanks to guiding the New York Giants to a 4-1 start.
The New York Giants just pulled off an upset over Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers, and based on the optics, it’s possible that with a few more tweaks and refinement, the Giants could be in position to be a consistent threat in the Daboll era.
But more on the future later, it’s about now, and at this rate, Brian Daboll might have to start preparing a suit to accept this year’s Coach of the Year award. Who’s going to stop him?
Heading into this season, no one expected the Giants to be anything more than a team in a rebuild. That may have changed. Now, Big Blue, if they keep this upward trajectory, might be a team that could be playing postseason ball as a wild-card team. That’s a testament to how Daboll has changed the mindset of this team.
Brian Daboll is on a high-speed path to winning Coach of The Year in 2022-23.
It’s only five games into the season, but the Giants find themselves with four wins and just one loss. This team could be 5-0, but the Monday Night loss to the Dallas Cowboys has denied them that. That said, you can’t ignore how this team has looked.
Sure, there is a good deal to clean up, particularly the passing game. At the same time, not everything can be fixed in one year. It takes at least two-to-three years to turn a program around. One magical season can be followed by several losing seasons, and it’s up to Daboll to avoid that.
So far, so good. The Giants are winning both locally and internationally. Time will tell if this progress is just a flash in the pan or for real. Right now, Daboll might need to craft a speech upon potentially receiving some new hardware.
