The Seattle Mariners fell victim to the Houston Astros on Tuesday night, via a walk-off home run from Yordan Alvarez. Mariners fans have seen this before.
Sadly for Seattle baseball fans, this is hardly the first heartbreak theyāve felt. By no means is the ALDS series over, but a Game 1 defeat of this magnitude is tough to come back from, especially as the underdog. The Marinersā resolve will be tested right away.
Seattle entered the postseason as the story of baseball, ending the longest current postseason drought in the core four American sports leagues. They then defeated the Toronto Blue Jays in the Wild Card round.
Getting past Houston was always going to be a struggle, but the Mās had the Astros up against the ropes in Game 1, only to fall flat on their faces. Thereās plenty of blame to go around, including to Robbie Ray and manager Scott Servais. But for now, all Seattle fans can do is mope in their own sorrow.

Even Patrick Mahomes went crazy when Alvarez walked it off.
