When the Phillies needed him most, outfielder Nick Castellanos came through with a diving catch in right field to help secure Game 1 against the Braves.

Are the Phillies a team of destiny? There’s only one way to find out.

Castellanos is by no means known for his fielding — in fact, he’s often seen as a liability in the outfield. Yet, it shows you just can’t predict baseball.

The Phillies were reeling, having just given up a 3-run home run to Matt Olson after entering the ninth inning with a four-run cushion. Yikes, right? The, Castellanos came to the rescue.

And no one died!

Philadelphia made the playoffs for the first time in 11 seasons this year. After defeating the Cardinals by winning two straight on the road, this train road right to Atlanta and took Game 1 from the defending champs.

The social reaction to the Phillies surviving Game 1 against the Braves was very on point, if anything because it’s the type of contest this team has lost so many times before. Castellanos saved fans from yet another painful memory.
