The New York Yankees hosted the Cleveland Guardians for Game 1 of the ALDS, and the broadcast had an unexpected cringy twist. Fans tuned in to TBS to watch the game, but they had to endure CGI footage of a dragon flying over the field as a promo for House of Dragon.
It was unexpected and certainly not a fan favorite, but maybe a funny highlight to laugh about. As any humorous situation frequently does in baseball, it garnered several hilarious Twitter reactions.
Twitter reactions to the Yankees-Guardians House of Dragon promo
One common theme is that viewers are confused and probably would’ve rather not seen it.
One fan humorously Tweeted, “why did hbo just pay to CGI a dragon over yankee stadium for the corniest ad i’ve ever seen in my life.”
Ted Goldberg wrote, “TBS being forced to promo House of the Dragon with a CGI dragon flying around Yankee Stadium was BAD. And TBS should feel bad. My goodness.”
He’s not wrong. It was quite a cheesy concept.
Anthony Romano of WDBJ thought there was danger at the stadium until he realized it was just bad CGI. He stated, “Here I was thinking there was a bomb threat at Yankee Stadium. Nah, just a horrendous CGI dragon promoting GoT. Feel bad Lauren had to be a part of that lol.”
One fan believes it’s one of the worst promos TBS has done during a baseball game. They wrote, “That CGI Dragon promo has to be one of the worst ones I’ve ever seen them do at a baseball game. Way to make TBS a joke, Vest Man.”
With a few more games to go, hopefully TBS read the room and won’t bring the dragon back.
