Dansby Swanson makes insane defensive play: Best memes and tweets
By Mark Powell
Atlanta Braves shortstop Dansby Swanson made an incredible defensive play in Game 2 against the Phillies.
Over the shoulder? No problem.
Swanson made a Willie Mays catch look easy while running into the outfield from his native shortstop position.
The catch kept JT Realmuto off the basepaths on what would have otherwise been a bloop single. Swanson, who will be a free agent after this season, surely only increased his value with the grab.
Atlanta could use more from Swanson and the rest of their lineup against Phillies starter Zack Wheeler, who gave up just one hit through five innings of work.
Swanson and Braves pitcher Kyle Wright have kept the team even thus far.

Manager Brian Snitker maintained an optimistic viewpoint after Atlanta’s Game 1 loss, though it’s unlikely he’d be as intent to do so if the team dropped Game 2.
“It was good to see us come back, kind of rally late there…at that point in the game, we’re looking for positives. To see us cut it to a run with Matt’s homer, that’s good stuff. Like they’ve done the last few years, it’s never over til it’s over. They keep fightin, and we did again today,” Snitker expressed at the time.
Swanson, nicknamed by fans and teammates alike as ‘The Sheriff’, has been here and done that before as it pertains to postseason comebacks. He’s been on both sides of them. The Braves are banking on that experience paying off.
Baseball fans are appreciative of the product Swanson puts on the field game-in and game-out.
