Boston Red Sox legend David Ortiz provided a hilarious weather update for the Phillies vs Braves NLDS series game on Wednesday.

Boston Red Sox legend David Ortiz is a man of many talents, and he’s humbly been gatekeeping his ability as a weatherman from the public. The secret is out now as he’s joined FOX Sports for a live weather update on Game 2 of the Philadelphia Phillies vs Atlanta Braves NLDS.

As he was walking up to the screen, he stated that he was a “registered meteorologist for FOX weather.” He then gestured to the green moving on the map and said, “So when you see all this green here, that means, you better go grab your umbrella because you’re about to get wet today.”

He proceeded with, “On the other hand, we want this game to go on because I want my day off tomorrow, so let’s go. See you when I see you.”

Ortiz, nicknamed ‘Big Papi,’ is no stranger to the playoffs. As a man who essentially rebuilt the Red Sox in the early 2000s and helped them win three World Series, his expertise in baseball isn’t to be questioned. His weather skills, on the other hand, may be less reliable.

However, the game is delayed due to rain, so he’s not entirely wrong.

Game 2 of the Phillies vs. Braves NLDS is delayed due to rain

The game at Truist Park in Atlanta, Georgia has been delayed due to the rain. The latest update from the Braves official Twitter account states, “Weather update: There will be another weather call around 6 p.m., but current forecasts suggest starting the game around 7:30-7:45.  We will continue to update as we hear!”

The Phillies, who hadn’t been to the playoffs since 2011 prior this season, are aiming to defeat the defending World Series champions. Philadelphia won Game 1, so this series is particularly exciting to watch unfold.

Hopefully the rain won’t prevent Game 2 from happening.
