2. Jacob deGrom rumors: Yankees could sign the 4-time All-Star away from the Mets.

New York has been Jacob deGrom’s home since he made it to the big leagues. Perhaps the four-time All-Star is quite content in the Big Apple, and he’d prefer not to relocate. If that’s the case, there just so happens to be another team in the city that never sleeps that would gladly welcome the right-hander.

Of course, that team is the New York Yankees. Brian Cashman hasn’t been one to throw around “stupid money” as the team has in the past, but the Bronx Bombers certainly have the money to acquire deGrom’s services.

The biggest stumbling block to the Yankees acquiring deGrom might just be the New York Mets. How’s that, you say? Well, there’s another big-name free agent who’ll hit the open market this winter and his name is Aaron Judge. The likely AL MVP is in the final year of his contract with the Yankees.

If the Yankees and Judge fail to come to an agreement on a new deal, look for them to pursue deGrom. Yes, the Yankees already have Nestor Cortez and Gerrit Cole, but that didn’t stop the Yankees from trading for Frankie Montas at the deadline. That didn’t work out too well, and the Yanks might be looking to restock the starting rotation.
