Tua Tagovailoa returns to practice but unlikely to play this week

After a pair of scary hits Tua Tagovailoa could be back on the field for the Miami Dolphins sooner rather than later.
Miami Dolphins star quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has been out for two weeks following an in-game injury on Sept. 29. Word is that he will be practicing this week (coach Mike McDaniel confirmed it to reporters), but he will likely still be out of the upcoming game against the Minnesota Vikings.
Tagovailoa is still in the concussion protocol and could be cleared before the game. However, the injury was scary and resulted in him going unconscious on the field making involuntary flexes of his arms and fingers, so it’s better to play it safe and keep him resting a little bit longer.
McDaniel told Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport of NFL.com, “I don’t see him being active. I can say with certainty that he’s not going to play this week.”
He may be one of the best players on the team, but it’s not worth it to risk his safety in order to win a game.
Dolphins star QB Tua Tagovailoa should remain out a little bit longer
Many felt that Tagovailoa should’ve been monitored more closely after his first in-game incident, which occurred less than a week before his second one. In his first incident, he was tackled and remained conscious but struggled to get off the field. As he was running off, he stumbled and looked dazed and confused.
He was taken out of the game for a little while, only to return later in the game when he probably shouldn’t have. This was concerning, and though it’s purely speculation that the incident less than a week later was a result of not getting proper treatment.
Von Miller also recently spoke out about the NFL’s concussion protocol and how things need to change.
To be on the safer side, he shouldn’t jump right back into playing.
