Astros bullpen “calm and collected”

Houston’s bullpen made a big impact in Game 1’s win, and part of that success was on the shoulders of rookie Hunter Brown, who drew a pair of starts for Houston in the regular season but was also used in relief. In the postseason, the 24-year-old right-hander will likely come out of the bullpen again, as he did in the eighth inning of Tuesday’s win, pitching a scoreless eighth.

While a newcomer to the Houston bullpen, Brown said he’s already learned about the group’s mentality, especially in big moments. Brown added that the mentality of the group has helped his confidence as well.

“Everybody’s different, but as a whole I would say it’s very calm and collected,” Brown said. “These guys, they know what they do well. You have (Ryan) Pressly, (Ryne) Stanek, (Rafael) Montero, you know, these guys, everybody, through and through, has been doing great things all year. You can just see the quiet confidence that they have in that, that they believe in themselves, and you can kind of build off that for yourself too.”
