Red Flags: 5 college football teams on upset alert in Week 7
No. 3 Alabama vs. No. 6 Tennessee
Tennessee has not beaten Alabama since 2006. The Volunteers have dreams of ending that losing streak in 2022 with the Crimson Tide looking more uncertain than ever.
Alabama was shaky against Arkansas and nearly suffered an upset against woeful Texas A&M. Losing Bryce Young to injury was definitely a factor in those games but even against Texas something looked off.
Young may be back this week. If he does return to play, there’s certainly a chance of rust or lingering effects of his shoulder injury limiting his play.
Meanwhile, the Volunteers will lean on surprise Heisman candidate Hendon Hooker, who has been on a roll all season.
Under normal circumstances, Young’s influence might outweigh Hooker’s but one is coming off an injury and the other has been cooking. One will be playing in front of a hostile crowd. The other will be in friendly confines.
There’s always a danger in betting against Nick Saban. This might be the time to do it.
