Bob Costas made the mistake we’ve all been waiting for, calling Shane Bieber Justin Bieber in Game 2 of the ALDS. These are the best social reactions.
At first, you almost couldn’t believe it. You had to think that you heard Bob Costas wrong when he said “Justin Bieber.”
Then, he said it again. And you still second guess yourself and think, “is Bob Costas right? He said it. Maybe his name is Justin and I’m the dumb one?”
But no, Bob Costas did, in fact, mix up Cleveland Guardians pitcher Shane Bieber and pop star Justin Bieber in the 6th inning of Game 2 of the ALDS game between the Guardians and New York Yankees.

In case you didn’t know, Costas is far from the first person to make that mistake.
The Biebers have even joked about it together:

And Justin Bieber even has a jersey that says “Not Shane Bieber” on the back.
So, yeah, let’s cut Costas some slack, yeah?
Lauren Shehadi challenged Costas and his color-commentating partner, Ron Darling, to name some Bieber songs and hilarity ensued.
Darling named, “Yummy” with almost no wait time. Bob Costas said he was… Sorry (a name of a Bieber song) about the mix-up.
As if that wasn’t funny enough, Twitter gave us some awesome social reaction.

Bob Costas accidentally called Shane Bieber Justin Bieber. The sideline reporter offered the booth $10 if they could name a Justin Bieber song.
Ron QUICKLY responded “Yummy”
What a time to be alive

Bob Costas mistakenly calling Shane Bieber “Justin” and then rattling off multiple song titles of his was not on my ALDS bingo card

Some suggested it was time for Costas to retire. I say he’s just getting started.
Bob Costas needs to leave the booth. He's just listing Justin Bieber songs in the ALDS tie game in the 6th. This man is lost

Yes, more.
I love that Bob Costas just called Shane Bieber Justin Bieber. I didn't want him to apologize for it. in fact, I would love him to keep doing that. It's excellent content.

What kind of fan do we think Costas is? Maybe a little more club-oriented?
Bob Costas strikes me as a "What Do You Mean?" kind of Bieber fan.

Some fans hated it. Here’s some advice if you’re like this guy: Try enjoying life once in a while. Maybe he’s still mad about the strike zone.
Costas and the announcers joking around about Justin Bieber during the playoffs is making me want to throw something at my TV. Do they know that people actually care about this game? Just acknowledge the mistake and move on.
