Cleveland Guardians radio call of comeback against Yankees has all the feels
By Kevin Henry
The Cleveland Guardians staged a ninth-inning comeback against the New York Yankees on Saturday night and the Cleveland radio call captured the excitement.
For the second time in the 2022 postseason, Oscar Gonzalez was the hero for the Cleveland Guardians in an extra-inning game at Progressive Field.
Following his walk-off home run that pushed the Guardians past the Tampa Bay Rays in the Wild Card round, Gonzalez was back in the spotlight again on Saturday night, slapping a two-out, two-run single to cap a three-run ninth-inning rally to give Cleveland a 6-5 victory and 2-1 lead in the ALDS.

Cleveland’s play-by-play announcer, Tom Hamilton, shared his excitement with Guardians fans with his call of the heroics provided by Gonzalez.
Saturday’s game was a back-and-forth affair, with Cleveland scoring single runs in the first and second innings before New York got its power together, with Aaron Judge hitting a two-run homer in the third and Oswaldo Cabrera adding a two-run homer in the fifth to give the Yankees a 4-2 edge.
The Yankees would add a home run from Harrison Bader in the seventh inning, hoping that those homers would be enough to quiet the raucous Cleveland crowd. However, the Guardians ignited the crowd with three consecutive one-out singles, including Amed Rosario’s single to left plating Myles Straw.
In all, Cleveland pieced together five singles, including the game-winner from Gonzalez, to cue the comeback.
Will Cleveland’s momentum continue on Sunday night? Game 4 is set for a 7:07 p.m. (Eastern) first pitch and will once again be televised by TBS.
