Miami Dolphins tight end Mike Gesicki tried out Justin Jefferson’s iconic Griddy celebration once again, but it proved only Jefferson has the perfect form.
There’s nothing like a little trolling on the football field, whether it comes down to trash talk, eye-gouging in a 22-man pileup, or stiff-arming an opponent to the ground on the way to a touchdown.
But Dolphins tight end Mike Gesicki made it decidedly personal when he answered back to a 13-point deficit versus the Minnesota Vikings with a touchdown and a Griddy to match.

Although the Griddy is a Louisiana-born celebration that now spans the league, the NFL player credited for popularizing the move is former LSU wide receiver Justin Jefferson. Jefferson, who is busy leading the league in yards through the first five weeks of the season, made the dance famous as the next legendary Vikings wideout.
Naturally, Gesicki took the opportunity to troll Jefferson by doing the Griddy on his touchdown, proving that Gesicki definitely watched Jefferson’s tape before the game.

This all comes after Gesicki very publicly hit the Griddy during Week 2 versus the Ravens, when everyone let Gesicki know he looked more dud than stud.
Man, it looked so much better in my room in front of the mirror. Back to work tonight when I get home. https://t.co/oEPJ74Hwls

While the Vikings still had the game, Gesicki had his chance at Griddy redemption, against Jefferson no less.
Mike Gesicki trolls Justin Jefferson by trying out Griddy again versus Vikings
While Gesicki clearly worked on his Griddy, the rest of NFL Twitter was vehemently opposed to his form. For anyone who has yet to attempt the dance, there’s a step to it that has often gone ignored by NFL players trying it out on primetime. Gesicki ran through it the first time, but the overwhelming opinion is that he’s still got some work to do.

Mike Gesicki just had the longest Griddy of all time.. It’s like the DJ let the whole song play at a party. It always starts out jumping, but eventually it’s just Eh

Even Ja’Marr Chase, who has also popularized the dance, chimed in with a scathing review.

Still, Miami media gave Gesicki credit for improving upon his first Griddy celebration.
Mike Gesicki making good on his "Griddy dance" after scoring his next touchdown- The entire press box laughing and cheering him on. WAY better than the first! Could be the longest Griddy to date! He continued all the way down the sidelines. #Dolphins #Skol #NFL

No matter the criticism — or the score — nothing stopped Gesicki from getting Griddy with it all the way to the sideline.
literally the longest griddy ever 😂😭 @mikegesicki #BudLightCelly pic.twitter.com/i8qzJ34LUM

The Vikings got their revenge in too though, doing the Griddy…and the Waddle.

Even if Jefferson does it best, Gesicki can be proud that he keeps landing redzone targets — and that his Griddy is getting better every time.
