The San Diego Padres have officially knocked the Los Angeles Dodgers out of the playoffs, and the celebrations haven’t been anything short of epic.

The San Diego Padres have officially knocked the Los Angeles Dodgers out of the playoffs, and the team and fans are all celebrating in the best ways. Outfielder Wil Myers and his wife connected with fans to celebrate by buying them shots.

Reposted by Annie Heilbrunn, Myers’ wife Maggie Myers posted a video to her Instagram story from a bar showing their support for fans.

Heilbrunn wrote, “Wil Myers and his wife Maggie are out in downtown San Diego, buying shots for everyone in every bar they enter and thanking fans, high-fiving and celebrating. What a moment for the longest-tenured #Padres player.”

Humble is an understatement for both Wil Myers and Maggie Myers’ actions. Wil Myers has certainly been a beloved player in San Diego and has been with the team through a lot of development, and his giving back to his fans is heartwarming.

Padres fans have had a lot of patience for the team over the years, and it’s finally paying off.

Padres haven’t always been World Series contenders

This was certainly a long time coming for San Diego, and the Dodgers seemed to be on a much easier path to the World Series. The Padres aren’t officially in, but they weren’t expected to knock the Dodgers out. They hadn’t won a regular season series against the Dodgers at all in 2022, and the Los Angeles historically had one of the best seasons in MLB.

Their path was pretty difficult as well. In 2021, they produced their first above-.500 season since 2010, excluding 2020’s shortened campaign. Myers has been there since 2015, so he joined in the midst of the team’s roster reconstruction.

Also excluding the 2020 season, San Diego hadn’t been to the playoffs until now since 2006. The patience and dedication of fans is paying off, and the Padres have overtaken their biggest rival. They’re just one series away from going to the World Series.

Next. 3 Dodgers who won’t be back next season and where they’ll go. dark
