The Cleveland Guardians had to scramble and find a hotel after Game 5’s rainout in the Bronx.

Cleveland’s hotel drama surely won’t help matters on the field as they try to dash the Yankees’ postseason hopes with a critical victory against Nestor Cortes and Co.

Per ESPN, the hotel the Guardians were staying at prior to Game 5 was overbooked when they went back post-rainout. This led to a desperate attempt to find a new place of residence, with half the team needing to find a new hotel.

"“They had to not only check out of their hotel, come [to Yankee Stadium] with their bags, not knowing if their plane was going to back to Cleveland if they lost last night or to Houston [to face the Houston Astros in Game 1 of the ALCS] if they won,” ESPN’s Eduardo Perez reported Tuesday. “Now, let’s not forget they checked out, so now they have to go check back into the hotel, but wait a second, the hotel, overbooked. They had to go to a different hotel, yes they did and, not only that, they had to split up the groups.”"

Guardians: Terry Francona responds to Game 5 hotel drama

To Terry Francona’s credit, his Guardians kept a cool head about the entire situation.

“It was no big deal,” Francona said when asked.

And there you have it — catastrophe avoided.

Cleveland surely had more important things to worry about than which hotel to stay at for their extra night in NYC. Francona, for one, stuck with his original Game 5 starting pitcher, Aaron Civale. Shane Bieber could have been available to start if need be, but Francona would rather go to Bieber out of the bullpen, if necessary.

That move backfired almost immediately with a Giancarlo Stanton three-run homer.
