The New York Yankees mocked Josh Naylor towards the end of their Game 5 win over the Cleveland Guardians.

New York Yankees player Oswaldo Cabrera — and later Gleyber Torres — mocked ALDS competitor Josh Naylor for his home run celebration in Game 4. Cabrera appeared to tell Naylor, “You’re my son!” in spanish after fielding his line drive.

New York then closed out Game 5 with a win, and Torres did a “rocking the baby” motion, another troll of the Cleveland Guardians.

This was in reference to Naylor doing the motion and mouthing, “That’s my little f-ing son” to Gerrit Cole following his homer that eventually led to the Guardians victory in Game 4.

In such a competitive game, Naylor’s actions could’ve bothered Cole. He didn’t say it bothered him, but he did seem a little bit annoyed. In a press conference, Cole responded to the incident and stated, “It’s cute. I didn’t see it in the moment, and it wouldn’t have bothered me in the moment. It was just kind of funny.”

Gleyber Torres spoke out and confirmed that the Yankees found it disrespectful.

New York, however, got the last laugh as they get to advance to the ALCS.

The Yankees are officially headed to the ALCS

New York was favored to win the series, but as the end came closer, it became more and more unpredictable. The Yankees won Game 1, the Guardians tied the series in Game 2. Then, the Guardians walked off Game 3 and the Yankees evened matters in Game 4 behind Gerrit Cole.

The series was the only DS to go down to the wire in Game 5, and after the original game getting postponed, the Yankees persevered for the win.

New York will face the Houston Astros in the ALCS in what’s expected to be an extremely competitive series.
