The Yankees put the Guardians to bed in Game 5 of the ALDS prompting all sorts of tweets and memes about rocking the baby.
It had to wait for two rain delays and five games, but the Yankees can finally say they’re heading to the ALCS.
New York overwhelmed Cleveland’s Aaron Civale in the first inning to take an early advantage in Game 5, then saw out the game without much trouble.
Since the game with littered with references to Josh Naylor’s “rock the baby” home run celebration from Game 4, it should surprise no one that Twitter was full of mocking references at the final out.

The Yankees took a 3-0 lead in the first thanks to a Giancarlo Stanton home run. Aaron Judge added to the advantage in the second with his own homer. Cleveland had no answers after falling behind, especially with Nestor Cortes pitching five strong innings on three-days rest.
The Guardians were disappointed but given their overachievement this season, vibes were still positive after the loss.
Congrats to the Yankees. If not for rain, the 2016 World Series champion Cleveland baseball team would be headed to the 2022 ALCS (strictly according to those of us in Cleveland, of course).

The 2022 script was something special: the youngest team in baseball, a division title, and a 92-win season while peppering in some gritty come from behind wins and the emergence of some bright, young stars.

Now eyes will turn to the matchup with the Astros. Fans in Houston are eager to end the Yankees’ season again while fans in New York will look at this series as a chance for redemption.
I can’t believe it’s really Yankees-Astros again. Round 3. Just simply can’t lose to them again. None of this season matters if they don’t advance this time. Need the revenge

The Astros and Yankees have met in the postseason three times since 2015. Their last two meetings have been in the ALCS and both of those series were won by Houston. There’s history between the two best teams in the American League. It should be an incredible series.
Fans won’t have to wait long for Game 1. It’s coming up on Wednesday night in Houston.
