Saints QB Andy Dalton implodes on TNF: Best memes and tweets
By Scott Rogust
The New Orleans Saints started off Week 7 on a great note against the Arizona Cardinals, and then quarterback Andy Dalton imploded.
After watching the past two editions of Thursday Night Football, where scoring points were a chore for the Denver Broncos, Indianapolis Colts, Chicago Bears, and Washington Commanders. But as it turns out, all Amazon Prime Video needed to get more points on the board is to get the New Orleans Saints vs. Arizona Cardinals game, but with one caveat.
Quarterback Andy Dalton needed to play.
For the fourth consecutive week, Dalton got the start for the Saints with Jameis Winston sidelined. New Orleans looked to be in good shape, as they held a 14-6 lead. But that all changed with the Cardinals tying it up on Keontay Ingram rushing touchdown.
On the following drive, Dalton targeted wide receiver Marquez Callaway in the middle of the field, but it was picked off by Marco Wilson and returned for a touchdown. Granted, that one was not on Dalton, that was on Callaway, who tipped the football up into the air.
Things did not get better for the Saints, as Dalton’s pass intended for rookie wide receiver Chris Olave was picked off and returned for a touchdown by linebacker Isaiah Simmons, giving the Cardinals a 28-14 lead before halftime.
Saints: Andy Dalton implodes late in first half vs. Cardinals
Let’s just say that Twitter users did not exactly show any mercy for Dalton after what turned out to be a disastrous final two minutes-plus of the first half.

Dalton had thrown just one interception on the season, which took place in the team’s Week 5 game against the Seattle Seahawks. He had not one, not two, but three interceptions in the first half. The one we did not show was a pass to Callaway 10-yards out of the end zone, but it was picked off by cornerback Antonio Hamilton.
In the first half, Dalton accounted for four touchdown passes. Two to the Saints, and two to the Cardinals.
