Jurickson Profar ejected after arguing questionable checked swing call (Video)

San Diego Padres outfielder Jurickson Profar was ejected from NLCS Game 3 after arguing questionable checked swing call in ninth inning.

Is there ever really a postseason baseball game without some controversy? Well, that is exactly what happened during Game 3 of the National League Championship Series between the Philadelphia Phillies and San Diego Padres, and it occurred in the ninth inning.

The Padres were trailing 4-2 in the top of the inning, but Josh Bell hit a single to start things off. Outfielder Jurickson Profar was next up at the plate, looking to either advance Bell or bring him home. But on a 3-2 pitch, Profar tried to check his swing to avoid getting called out. The problem was, he was still called out by the third base umpire.

Profar was livid after being called out, where he threw his helmet and yelled “f*** you” multiple times to the third plate umpire. As that happened, Profar was kicked out of the game.

It was certainly a debatable call. But, the ruling stood, and Profar was sent out of the game.

San Diego was unable to score a run in the ninth, despite Bell’s hit to start off the inning. Trent Grisham popped out to shortstop Bryson Stott and Austin Nola struck out swinging to clinch the 4-2 victory for the Phillies.

Now, the Padres face a 2-1 deficit in the series. If the Padres have shown anything this postseason, you can not count them out. Take Game 2 for example, where they overcame a 4-0 deficit to get the 8-5 victory to even up the NLCS.

Game 4 between the Padres and Phillies takes place on Saturday, Oct. 22 at 7:45 p.m. ET.
