The Houston Astros are close to finishing off the lifeless New York Yankees following their Game 3 win in the ALCS.
The Houston Astros fought a hard battle against the Seattle Mariners, sweeping them in the ALDS. It was not an easy sweep either, they needed to win in the bottom of the ninth in Game 1 and in 18 innings in Game 3. As it turns out, that series was way tougher than their tilt against the New York Yankees.
Houston took the first two games by scores of 4-2 and 3-2. Yes, the scores were close, but the Yankees could not take advantage of runners in scoring position and they struck out 30 times in the first two games.
In Game 3, in front of their home crowd, the Yankees embarrassed themselves, falling x-x to now go into an 0-3 hole to the Astros.

Inept would be a kind way to characterize the Yankees' offense in the ALCS. Current numbers through 6th inning of Game 3:

Yankees fans aren’t booing Judge alone. They’re booing another Cashman/Boone team that shows no heart and can’t hit in yet another postseason.

Blow. It. Up.
Matt Carpenter struck out again. Fans are booing every single Yankee when they get out, from Aaron Judge to Josh Donaldson. Folks are swarming toward the exits. The #Yankees have one hit tonight.

New York is six outs away from an 0-3 deficit in the ALCS.

I am shocked that a Yankees lineup designed to hit nothing but home runs against regular season starters is not producing runs in the playoffs.

This ALCS debacle is starting to have that fire-everybody feel to it for the Yankees.

The tone was set early in the top of the second inning. Outfielder Harrison Bader dropped a fly ball by Christian Vazquez after Aaron Judge ran into him. In the very next at-bat, Chas McCormick made the Yankees pay for that error, as he hit a home run off Gerrit Cole to the right field stands to give the Astros an early 2-0 lead.
In the sixth inning, Cole loaded the bases following a double by Alex Bregman, a walk to Kyle Tucker, and a single to Yuli Gurriel. With no outs on the board, manager Aaron Boone decided to go to the bullpen, instead of letting Cole work his way out of the jam. Boone called in Lou Trivino, who proceeded to surrender three runs on a sacrifice fly by Trey Mancini and a two-run single by Vazquez.
The Astros now have two games to get a win at Yankee Stadium to win the AL pennant. That would be the ultimate gut punch to the Yankees, watching their hated rivals celebrate a trip to the World Series in their own stadium. They can’t be too upset, however, as they have no excuse regarding the end results.
They can’t hit. You need to hit to get runs. Hence why they are on the verge of their season ending.
Meanwhile, the Astros are one win away
